I am currently using a WP_Query that’ll trigger from an AJAX call when a button is pressed. The post meta fields lat lng will be used as location data for a google map. The query outputs fine without AJAX but cannot seem to get it to return the results with it.

I’m trying to get the navigation menu from JSON response using WP REST API v2 plugin.
After some research I’ve managed to create a json file which I use as input for Twitter’s typeahead (prefetch). On my website I have several hundreds of events and several thousands of artists (both custom post types).
I’m about to start with a new project and would like to incorporate React as I want to learn more about it and this specific project would be perfect to get started as it’s not that time sensitive and pretty straight forward.
When sending a JSON response back to an AJAX request, why use the WordPress function wp_send_json() and not echo json_encode()? What is the benefit of using the WordPress function wp_send_json() over echo json_encode()?
