Im trying to stringify a javascript object and then pass the string as a parameter to a WebMethod in Code Behind. I can’t get it to work as I get a Internal Server Error of 500 and the stacktrace says that value is missing for parameter.

I am working in Asp.Net using C# and I have a [WebMethod] defined in a User Control. I don’t want to use a web service.
I’ve got a function on all pages in my site which is located in my master page and I want it to run from some jQuery Ajax method.
I have been struggling to get my jquery call to a webmethod to work. I am being bounced by the server with a “401 Unauthorized” response. I must have an incorrect setting in the web.config or somewhere else that would be preventing a successful call.
How do I call this WebMethod in ASP.NET from a Windows application?

I have a method on a page marked as a [WebMethod] that uses some session state as part of its operation. After I wrote this code, I suddenly had a flash of memory that you need to use EnableSessionState when you use session state in a [WebMethod] (e.g. see here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/byxd99hx.aspx). But it seems to be working fine. Why?
