I would like to test my web app in other browsers. I have installed Virtual PC to do just that. the ASP.NET development server does not allow remote connections so the virtual pc (another computer on the network) cannot access the website.

I’m using jQuery UI’s draggable and droppable libraries in a simple ASP.NET proof of concept application. This page uses the ASP.NET AJAX UpdatePanel to do partial page updates. The page allows a user to drop an item into a trashcan div, which will invoke a postback that deletes a record from the database, then rebinds the list (and other controls) that the item was drug from. All of these elements (the draggable items and the trashcan div) are inside an ASP.NET UpdatePanel.

I’ve been using a custom membership provider for authentication in all my web form applications till now. I’m about to start developing my first website using MVC. I’m wondering if I should I use the built-in membership provider that ships with ASP .NET MVC, or if I should create my own. My site needs to integrate with openid, facebook, google etc for authentication and openauth for api access. I’m wondering how easy it would be to use the built-in one for my needs.
