I’m writing a simple desktop initiation script which waits for disk idle, and then launches next external program (like Firefox, Skype or conky) using &, like:

I usually use watch Linux utility to watch the output of a command repeatedly every n seconds, like in watch df -h /some_volume/.
Running this script on: “Red Had Enterprise Linux Server release 5.11 (Tikanga)”
