Adding a default value in dropdownlist after binding with database
I binded my ddl to my database as below, but how can I add a default text on top of the binded values so that it appears as:
c#
__doPostBack is not defined
Im getting that error when try to call a __doPostBack on one of my pages, every page that i have in the project use __doPostBack function but in this particular page im getting that Javascript error.

On my current project, to get a single value (select column from table where id=val), the previous programmer goes through using a datarow, datatable and an sqldatadapter (and of course sqlconnection) just to get that one value.

XML Serialization and null value – C#
I have an object that I serialize to XML. If one of the properties in the object is null, then native serialization ignores to add this as the attribute. Is this normal behavior, if so, is there a way I can override it?

Last night, I decided to try and implement SignalR to my application, and because I use MVC 5, I had to use the 2.0 beta of SignalR.
Running Command line from an ASPX page, and returning output to page
I’m trying to access the command line and execute a command, and then return the output to my aspx page. A good example would be running dir on page load of an aspx page and returning the output via Response.Write(). I have tried using the code below. When I try debugging this it runs but never finishes loading and no output is rendered.
I am using C# and .NET Framework 3.5sp1. Any help much appreciated.
