Diff of two similar big raw binary files
Let’s say I have a 4 GB file abc on my local computer. I have uploaded it to a distant server via SFTP, it took a few hours.

I have file a and b and I would like to output lines of b that changed since it was cloned from a. Just the modified lines, no surrounding context, no diff offset marks.
Will it be possible to use diff on a specific columns in a file?
I am trying to find a way to determine if a text file is a subset of another..
I was about to diff a backup from it’s source to manually verify that the data is correct. Some chars, like åäö, is not shown correctly on the original data but as the clients (over samba) interpret it correctly it’s nothing to worry about. The data restored from backup shows the chars correctly, leading diff to not consider them to be the same files (with diffs, but rather completely different files).
