Say I plug in several USB drives which don’t get automatically mounted. How can I find out which device file belongs to which physical device, so I can mount it for example?
I know that macOS is a UNIX operating system, but I don’t know whether macOS could be called a UNIX distribution in the same way Gentoo or Debian are GNU/Linux distributions.
By default ifconfig will show me all available interfaces , but what if I just want to display active ones? Like, en0 only in below.

When you setup a new Ubuntu or OS X installation a user is generally created for you. On OS X it is whatever username you pick. On Ubuntu (the server version) usually the ubuntu user is created.

I have two sentence-aligned parallel corpora (text files) with about 50 mil words. (from the Europarl corpus -> parallel translation of legal documents).
I’d now like to shuffle the lines of the two files, but both in the same way. I wanted to approach that using gshuf (I’m on a Mac) using one unique random source.
