Child theme – Overriding ‘require_once’ in functions.php
I am attempting to modify a wordpress theme with a child theme. My parent theme has the following function in its functions.php:

I’m trying to automatically create terms in a certain taxonomy when a certain custom post type is published. The newly created term must be the name of the post that was published.
the_post_thumbnail hard cropping not working no matter what
No matter what I do – I can’t get the hard cropping mode in the_post_thumbnail to work.
Backup the Database and Restore from the Backup?
I am using WordPress 3 and would like to backup the database to my computer (a Mac). My webhost is using PHP safe mode, so that sometimes limits what plugins I can use. What is a good way to do a database backup? Is it possible to be automated? Are incremental backups recommended/easy? Obviously I then need to test restoring form a backup.
Can posts have parents?
Are posts supposed to have parents? If so, what would that mean for a post to have a parent?
