I am new to mvc4 asp .net and confused with the authentication and authorization. Our’s is an internal website that takes username(HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name) from windows authentication and check against database if the username exists and what roles the user has. I want to use the global [Authorize] attribute and roles, to give access to controllers. Can anyone help me on how to start with.
I have a View that allows a user to enter/edit data for a new Widget. I’d like to form up that data into a json object and send it to my controller via AJAX so I can do the validation on the server without a postback.

I have an attribute named Log that tries to log the content of request and response into a text file. I’ve put that over my Controller to cover all the actions. In LogAttribute I’m reading content as a string (ReadAsStringAsync) so I don’t lose request body.
I’m relatively new to ASP.Net MVC and try to use the built-in user login functionality now. I’m able to register an user in the registration view. If I try to login with the created user this also works. I’m redirected to the master page.
When I’m uploading large files to my web api in ASP.NET Core, the runtime will load the file into memory before my function for processing and storing the upload is fired. With large uploads this becomes an issue as it is both slow and requires more memory. For previous versions of ASP.NET there are some articles on how to disable the buffering of requests, but I’m not able to find any information on how to do this with ASP.NET Core. Is it possible to disable the buffering of requests so I don’t run out of memory on my server all the time?
I’m trying to avoid the use of the Role Provider and Membership Provider since its way too clumsy in my opinion, and therefore I’m trying to making my own “version” which is less clumsy and more manageable/flexible. Now is my question.. is there an alternative to the Role Provider which is decent? (I know that I can do custom Role provier, membership provider etc.)
I need keep state on many-to-many modal dialogs in a progressive enhancement way in ASP.NET MVC project.
In my code when javascript is disabled modal dialog turn in navigation to another page and return, but when javascript is enabled the dialog open as a jquery modal dialog, its OK.
Im using this method to select action from click on view.
The code below show one master page calling detail page, there is the view and the controller. There is only one master calling one detail dialog but i have another views/controllers where one master can call many different detail dialog and sometimes one dialog can behave like a master page and call another dialog nested. Everything must keep state between calls.
Assuming you forgot to tick the Web API checkbox (add it to the project) when making a new MVC (5) project, what do you need to do add Web API and get it working?
