I’m working with a Raspberry Pi B+ and Raspbian 5/5/2015 and some guides that are a few years old. I’ve got an external NTFS HDD hooked up to the Pi. Due to the articles age(s), common practices have changed, and it turns out that certain packages and features and functions are now built-in and/or automatic.
How do I change the default session I get when I log in? I’m on Debian jessie. I tried changing settings on gdm3, tried installing lightdm and following this but it’s just not working.
I installed a graphical environment on a server and I have decided that I no longer want to run that environment at boot. How can I disable it with systemd?

We’ve got a Squid web cache set up that is used for caching package downloads, so that all the machines here don’t have to independently redownload everything. The installer prompts for a mirror and proxy. As long as every machine uses the exact same mirror (here, http.us.debian.org) and the proxy then it works.
Has anyone figured out how to install/backport a Debian Handbrake package on Debian wheezy? The only version of Handbrake currently in Debian is in experimental, and the dependencies are not available on wheezy, so I can’t easily rebuild it. In particular the version of libav used is the version in experimental.
I was trying to install texmaker from the repository. For installing the texlive I followed the steps described here. For this the control file I used is this. It has the file texlive-binaries in it.
