I’m trying to learn how to use QThreads in a PyQt Gui application. I have stuff that runs for a while, with (usually) points where I could update a Gui, but I would like to split the main work out to its own thread (sometimes stuff gets stuck, and it would be nice to eventually have a cancel/try again button, which obviously doesn’t work if the Gui is frozen because the Main Loop is blocked).
I’d like to embed an IPython qt console widget in a PyQt application I am working on. The code provided below (and adapted from https://stackoverflow.com/a/9796491/1332492) Accomplishes this for IPython v0.12. However, this crashes in IPython v0.13 at the line self.heartbeat.start() with RuntimeError: threads can only be started once. Commenting out this line brings up the widget, but doesn’t respond to user input.
I try to compile a Python project under Windows 7 using PyInstaller. The project works fine, there are no issues, however when I try to compile it the result doesn’t work. Though I get no warnings during compilation there are many in the warnmain.txt file in the build directory: warnmain.txt
I am using PyQt4, and I am trying to create a collapsible box where it will contains a couple of child widgets where the child widgets are already created and layout using a QVboxLayout
My code was created with PyQt4 and I want to convert it to PyQt5.
I have tried some scripts to convert the code; but, nothing changed except the name.
What do I need to change manually in order to make the code work with PyQt5?
I am using python and Qt Designer to implement loading tiff images and to enable Pan and Zoom on some mouse event (wheel – zoom, press wheel – pan).

From the PyQt4 website their instructions for installing the package are to download the tarball and use the config file. I have two versions of Python, one is my normal system and the other is within anaconda. I’m not sure how I get this to install within anaconda. Is there a conda command to install PyQt4?
