I’m trying get a resource for translation in ASP.NET, using conversion of string to type ResourceManager and a extertnal Resources file for translation. But when i execute i’m look this error:
I’d like to enable the resource files to be editable after deployment. I read this post which suggests that this is possible, but I can’t seem to figure out what settings I need to change to enable this.
I’m using asp.net 3.5, my solution currently has 2 projects, an API class project and a website project, within the class project I have a resource file named checkin.resx. For me to be able to access the resource files from my website project, I had to set the “Access Modifier” to public, this allowed me to use a strongly typed name to acces the resources for example: CkiApi.Checkin.Resources.Checkin.OCKI_HeaderText, where Checkin is the .resx file and OCKI_HeaderText is the resource key.
I have an ASP.NET3.5 (C#) ASPX page that is internationalized in 10 different languages.
1. Is there a better solution if there is a huge amount of resources? Like 100,000 strings in a .resx file? (Theoretically, I do not actually have this problem)
We use resx files to localize our web applications. We usually create local resx files (that map to a specific page) when only one page uses a certain phrase, and a global resx file when more than one page needs the phrase.
But the good thing about global resx files is that they are a class, and you can call the phrases like you call properties of a class:

So I’m using a Global Resource file for all static messages within my site. Mainly error messages etc..
I have multiple projects that need to share resource files (.resx) Suggestions have been made to move resource files to a separate assembly and have web projects reference it. Is there an example of how to do this?
I’m developing a multilingual web site and the localization is done mostly by using .resx files. But now I need to enable users with some permissions to edit resource files online from the web site.
Does anyone know of any existing component to help achieve this?
