I am deploying ASP.NET and Web Service solutions to IIS for a development server. It looks like the last person that did this job deployed all the .pdb files too. I asked about it, and was told that they “provide better stack trace info in the logs” if they are left on the server.
I have in my ASP.NET static variable that flushes itself to DB every X insertions.
Problem is, if I publish the application , the IIS process is killed with all my static material.
I want to know which account running my Web Service/Application so that I can assign the read/write access to that account. I have researched and see most of the sources mentions about ASPNET account, but on my 2008 server, there is not any acount named ASPNET. Some sources say ASPNET is being replaced by NETWORK SERVICE?

Seems like there are so many different ways of automating one’s build/deployment that it becomes difficult to parse through all the different scenarios that people support in tutorials on the web. So I wanted to present the question to the stackoverflow crowd … what would be the best way to set up an automated build and deployment system using the following configuration:
I have installed IIS on my computer for the first time (until now I have worked with the express version), but it’s not working properly. When I try to hit a page, it returns this error, which I do not know how to resolve:
I assume this is an IIS error, as this doesn’t happen if I run the project on my local machine.
I want to direct some of my other domains to my primary domain which is hosted at a Windows Azure website.
