First of all, sorry if this is a duplicate. The answers that I found either seemed irrelevant but perhaps I’m searching with the wrong keywords. What I’d like to do is to take an animated GIF and split it up into a list of frames. Basically, something like this:
I’ve been trying for the last few days to get a sudoku grid from a picture, and I have been struggling on getting the smaller squares of the grid.
I am working on the picture below. I thought processing the image with a canny filter would work fine, but it didn’t and I couldn’t get every contour of each square. I then put adaptive threshold, otsu, and a classic thresholding to the test, but every time, it just could not seem to capture every small square.
When photographing a sheet of paper (e.g. with phone camera), I get the following result (left image) (jpg download here). The desired result (processed manually with an image editing software) is on the right:
I got a problem when I am using python to save an image from url either by urllib2 request or urllib.urlretrieve. That is the url of the image is valid. I could download it manually using the explorer. However, when I use python to download the image, the file cannot be opened. I use Mac OS preview to view the image. Thank you!
How would I go about programmatically changing the desktop background in Mac OS X? I’d like to use python, but I’m interested in any way possible. Could I hook up to Terminal and call a certain command?

I am trying to create a python program which takes a grayscale, 24*24 pixel image file (I haven’t decided on the type, so suggestions are welcome) and converts it to a list of pixel values from 0 (white) to 255 (black).
I am using matplotlib to render some figure in a web app. I’ve used fig.savefig() before when I’m just running scripts. However, I need a function to return an actual “.png” image so that I can call it with my HTML.
I want to start the curve with one color and progressively blend into another color until the end. The following function in my MCVE works, but surely, there has to be a better way I haven’t found out about, yet?!
