I created an NTFS logical volume on my Linux system for Windows file storage because I want to retain the creation date of my files (I would probably zip them into an archive and then unzip them, though I have no idea if that would work). Does NTFS-3G save the creation date of files on Linux? If so, how do I access it?
I need to mount a ntfs partition and be able to use it with unix file system permissions. The problem is that, when I mount the partition using the following fstab entry, I cannot run chown and chmod successfully. It executes without error, but the file access rights are not changed.
Two-three years ago, I experimented (in Windows) with NTFS ADS meta-data (Alternate Data Streams). It seemed like an interesting idea, but it is certainly not “portable”.
I am attempting to save some user data of a disk that has failed in a Window 8 computer. I’ve removed the HDD that was unable to be read by the Windows 8 laptop, plugged into my OS X machine which can see the partitions but cannot mount them. (ntfs-3g cannot either).

I have Windows and Arch Linux in dual with UEFI. I want to mount my another NTFS partition in Arch. I mounted the partition with mount /dev/sda5 /mnt/Apps command. Then added the output of genfstab -U /mnt/Apps in /etc/fstab file. The output is as follows:
I have a directory with images. Suddenly I found out that there’s a new image with a new name. The image content is similar to another image in another directory but with a different name. I didn’t copy this image to this directory.
Situation: I need a filesystem on thumbdrives that can be used across Windows and Linux.
